Crushed walnut shells are a type of sandblasting media for cleaning. Walnut shells are used in walnut shell filters are frequently installed for the removal of oil and suspended solids from produced water, refinery effluent and waste / re-circulation streams, steel mill direct spray and caster water, ethylene plant quench water, copper concentrate decant and cooling water found at other industrial applications where sand filters have traditionally been used as environmentally safe and effective filtration media.
